Student midwives' perception of peer learning during their clinical practice in an obstetric unit: A qualitative study

Evidence supports peer learning in clinical settings, but it has not been studied obstetric units. In Sweden, units are a challenging area for student midwives because of the lack attention to needs and stress attaining final number 50 assisted births. To explore how experienced during placement an unit. Qualitative approach. Three hospitals Stockholm, Sweden. Fifteen peer-learning model placement. Individual interviews followed by deductive content analysis using Boud's (2001) theoretical descriptions learning. The students shared skills, experience, knowledge as equals took responsibility their peers' while supporting women labor childbirth. Students ideas, thoughts, gained perspective peers on equal level. used each other work independently without much involvement from preceptor. Feedback was welcomed encouragement.
